Des Moines Dollars for Scholars - Steven J. Underwood Scholarship
The funding of this scholarship is provided by employees of the City of Des Moines in memory of Officer Steven Underwood of the Des Moines Police Department.
Special consideration is given to students who indicate career goals in the law enforcement or criminal justice fields.
Shop with a Cop
The purpose of the event is to foster positive relationships between youth and officers. Young kids, K - 6th grade, are selected each year during the end-of-the-year holiday season to shop at one of the local area stores to purchase gifts for members of their immediate family.
Pink Patch Project
The Pink Patch Project is an innovative public awareness campaign designed to bring attention to the fight against breast cancer and to support breast cancer research organizations in combating this devastating disease.
"Movember" Men's Health Awareness Month
Movember is a fun twist on a serious issue. Using the mustache as a catalyst, the idea is to bring about change and give men the opportunity and confidence to learn and talk about their health and take action when needed.
